Le Mesnil is, of course, one of the three great grand crus of the Côte de Blanc. But, according to Richard Juhlin, it has “for a long time been regarded as the best of all.” Juhlin believes that no other Chardonnay terroir in Champagne can match Le Mesnil's special combination of richness, penetrating floral, mineral perfume, and finesse.

And, for nearly 15 years, our special bottling has articulated this singular character with gorgeous clarity.

But the current release is even more special, being based on 2015, a glorious vintage throughout northern Europe, including in Champagne. The year's warmth produced not only historic ripeness, but also great concentration thanks to low yields. In fact, the degree of phenolic maturity achieved in Champagne’s vineyards in 2015 has long-time Louis Roederer chef de cave Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon comparing it to such mythic years as 1928, 1947, 1959 and 1976.

Le Mesnil’s winemakers masterfully blended their 2015 fruit with small quantities of the house’s most complementary reserve wines. And they made the most of this raw material with extended lees aging. Beautifully nuanced and seductively textured now, this Grand Cru will continue to blossom with years of cellaring.
