No domaine in Vouvray has mastered the art of making great Chenin Blanc at every level of sweetness as Huet has. From their otherworldly Cuvée Constance and Moelleux Première Tries to their crystalline dry (sec) bottlings, virtually everything that emerges from Huet’s cellar is a measuring stick for all other producers.

But every decade or two, a Huet vintage comes along in which one category reigns supreme. And in 2019, it’s the dry cuvées that eclipse everything else. In fact, so great was their potential that the entire harvest of Le Mont, Clos du Bourg and Le Haut Lieu went into them. The only exception was a tiny amount of Le Mont demi-sec.

Stunningly deep, pure and complex, with striking minerality and electric acidity, Huet’s 2019 secs are the stuff of which legends are made. And though spectacularly expressive now, they promise to develop for many decades in a good cellar, making comparisons to great white Burgundy inevitable. In fact, View from the Cellar’s John Gilman says they will “last a hundred years.”
